Self Evaluation

After writing this argumentative essay, I've noticed how strongly I truly do feel about the religion being put back into schools. It would just be better for society. Some of the strengths in t his essay would have to be the examples I used like Columbine and Virginia Tech. Those incidents are not only facts, but it appeals to peoples emotions (pathos) since it was such a devistating time for many. The logic that I put it about freedom of speech is one of my strengths as well. As for my weaknesses, my rebuttles could have been a little better as well as contradicting them. I could have added some court dates to make the essay a little more true. I honestly loved this class. Yes, there were times where there was a lot of homework involved and a lot of things to do for a portfolio, but after doing them, I realized it only helped with the actual essay and some of them were fun. Besides the work, the actual class is fun to go to becuase we are always having a good time, either laughing or debating. It is not just a blah class that you get nothing out of at the end. I have learned a lot in this class and am going to miss it.

Devil's Advocate

Dear writer, i see that you are arguing that religion should be placed back into schools. I do not agree with you whatsoever! Putting religion back into schools is not only an absurd but a complete inconvenience. Not everyone practices a relgion and it is just not right. It is uncomfortable and should not take away from studies that do matter. If you believe in religion so much and care about it then i'm sure you can find some way to practice it on your own time and not force as well as provoke others to do what you want. It is not going to bring morals because there are so many people i know who claim to go church and are straight up hypocrites. Morals are brought about by parents and where you are raised so you should not assume. I truly just don't see why you have to bring it into schools, schools are made for learning, not for preaching!
