Clip

The clips that were shown on the blog were very interesting to watch and actually very educational. Most poeple who see things like that think "oh my God, how disgusting", but i'm almost positive when others our traditions, they probably think the same thing. Every culture has their own traditions and many of which are "absurd" to others, whether be cutting of the skin, rings around ones neck, huge earings in ones ears, men having authority over women, getting a drivers liscense, chopping off a body part and sacrificing it, etc. After watching these clips I've come to realize that there are so many people in this world that we are so blind to and it just shows how ignorant we really are. I do hate to see how torture and pain is a part of their growing up, like the fact that boys have to go through a bloody process with humiliation and the cries of their mother to become men, but at the end to them, it is all worth it and that is all that matters to them. Seeing women in another culture having to wear rings around their neck as a sign of purity is very different but for those who do wear it is a symbol of pride. Cultures all around the world as well as religions have their own way of doing things dealing with symbolism and meaning. I am not going to lie, I am very grateful to be who I am and live where I live. I'm not trying to downgrade anyone, I just find it emotionally and physically excrutiating, but it just goes to show just how much strenth one can have if they put their mind to it.
